The Owensboro Family YMCA will expand its state-regulated preschool program beginning August 17, adding 40 new spots for children ages 3-5. Registration opens Monday.
The expansion was made possible through support from the Public Life Foundation and will increase access to full-day preschool for potty-trained children in the community.
“We know access to childcare is critical for working families,” YMCA CEO Tom Bontrager said. “This service has been supported by our governments, foundations, and donors and will provide a nurturing, engaging environment where little ones can learn, grow, and thrive.”
According to the YMCA, the preschool program is designed to promote kindergarten readiness through hands-on learning and developmentally appropriate instruction. The curriculum focuses on supporting the whole child and helping students build skills needed for future academic success.
The full-day preschool operates from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Registration opens to the public on June 8. A $200 nonrefundable registration and supply fee is required to reserve a child’s spot.
More information about the program and registration is available through the YMCA’s childcare department at 270-663-8203 or by visiting the YMCA website. For additional questions, families can email [email protected].
