The Green River Area Development District is recruiting members for its AmeriCorps Senior Connections program for the 2026-27 service year, seeking individuals interested in serving older adults in Hancock and Henderson counties.
The program places members with nonprofit, faith-based, and public agencies that help seniors remain healthy, independent, and connected. Service opportunities include delivering nutritious meals, reducing social isolation, and providing support that allows older adults to continue living in their own homes.
Members commit to 1,700 hours of service between Sept. 1, 2026, and Aug. 31, 2027. Participants receive a $20,400 living allowance during the service year and, upon successful completion, earn a $7,395 Segal AmeriCorps Education Award that can be used toward qualified educational expenses. Individuals age 55 and older may transfer the education award to a child or grandchild. Members may also qualify for limited health benefits and child care assistance.
