Calling all sweethearts, family, friends and orchid lovers. The Western Kentucky Botanical Garden is hosting their annual Cupid’s Kitchen, a St. Valentine’s Brunch at The Garden on Sunday, Feb. 10.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., “Chefs of The Garden” will be hosting breakfast with special chef dishes including gourmet waffles made to order. These “chefs” are the botanical garden’s dedicated volunteers that make this event a success.

“We haven’t announced our celebrity chefs just yet but they will be making the waffles fresh right here inside the Cottage,” said Diane Bowers, financial affairs administrator for the garden.

This event is important to the garden as it provides operational funding for things like mulch, flowers and plants.

“It has kind of become a tradition with the garden,” Bowers said. “There are a lot of the same people that come every year because they know what a great and fun event this is.”

Reservations are $25 for members, $30 for non-members and $12.50 for children under 12.

Attendance to the event includes an advance peek of the 2019 Orchid Show & Sale.

“We have the orchids in our conservatory and have some really unusual and beautiful orchids this year,” Bowers said. “The sale actually starts that day for those in attendance and then opens to the public the following Saturday.”

The orchids sell for $25 each, all proceeds benefiting the garden.

The event held at the cottage on the grounds of the garden typically hosts up to 75 people.

“It’s important to get your reservation in early,” Bowers said. “Those registered can come anytime during the 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. time period that day.”
