The Owensboro Regional Farmers’ Market has released their tentative special events days for the 2019 season. After a busy opening day Saturday, market organizers are hopeful for a successful second year at the new pavilion located at 1205 Triplett St.
Market President Jim Gilles said the new pavilion has garnered a 20 percent increase in customer attendance for the market with over 31,000 visits from May to October last year.
“This year we have 34 vendors signed up so far with several new vendors to add to our mix for the 2019 season,” Gilles said.
Hoping to reach a new demographic, Gilles said there will now be an evening market one night per month.
“A lot of people can’t make morning markets, so we think an evening market has good potential,” Gilles said. “They are a growing trend in larger cities and we think it will touch a different group of people.”
