The Owensboro Regional Farmers’ Market will hold its first ever Holiday Market this year on Nov. 7. The move to include a Holiday Market for the first time came from community survey results that indicated a desire for an arts-themed market.

Farmers’ Market Treasurer Hanna Bailey said their survey went out a couple weeks ago, asking customers and friends of the market what they wanted to see in the future. Board members received hundreds of responses.

“A lot of people mentioned crafts,” Bailey said. “We decided to try a Holiday Market and see how that goes.”

Bailey is currently working to acquire a variety of craft vendors, mobile boutiques and food trucks for the Holiday Market, aside from the food vendors who normally sell their products at the weekly farmers market.

There will be limited spots available because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but there are still plenty of slots available at this time.

“People also wanted to see more food — we’re working on it, but I think COVID has halted a lot of this,” Bailey said. “Still, we’ve grown a lot since we moved to the pavilion and have increased our customer base.”

The Holiday Market is part of the Owensboro Regional Farmers’ Market annual fundraiser. Donations can be mailed to 4800 New Hartford Rd., Suite A or by contacting one of the Owensboro Regional Farmers’ Market board members.
