If you’ve been enjoying the changing weather around the city or even your garden, you may have noticed that a new amount of stink bugs enjoying the weather, too — a bit earlier than usual.

An employee at Wathen Pest Control said the rise in number could be because of the temperature drops from a few weeks back. During the temperature drops, the bugs came out to eat and since then have stayed out.

Killing stink bugs is a bit of a hassle — as if you squish, stomp or even flick them they will do as their name suggests and, well, stink. If they feel any sort of disturbance, they are known to produce a smell as their last breath, so to say.

Wathen Pest Control said they have been out spraying the outside of customers’ homes for the bugs. The best way to kill them, they recommend, is by using a spray designated for stinkbugs.

If you do attempt to kill the stinkbug on your own, Wathen Pest Control highly recommends reading the directions to ensure you do not unintentionally harm anyone.
