Travis Woosley and his father were sitting in one of their barns discussing their cattle and how, if they purchased in larger quantities, they should sell some of it to other farmers so others could get the price-break benefit and also keep their product fresh. From that, Woosley’s Acres Flats Farm and Feed was born.
In 2017, owners Travis and Dawn Woosley began selling out of a small garage, which they soon outgrew. They began building their current location at 2995 Highway 144W in Philpot to meet the demands of customers.
“Scared to death in such a competitive market, we started being dealers for many businesses,” Woosley said.
Woosley’s original goal was to keep the prices low and to build trust with his knowledge of products.
Their product base covers farm animals to domesticated animals and deer minerals. Woosley’s also stocks gates, panels, fencing material and some veterinary products. They are a supplier of metal buildings and carports for MaxSteel.
Woosley said it wasn’t always easy because they were considered small and new to the market, but each year, larger companies feel confident in Woosley’s and continue to do business with them.
“We’re a small business that wants to help many people and know each one of our customers like family,” Woosley said, adding that many times, customers don’t just come for products but just to hang out in the store and talk.
In addition to farm materials, Woosley’s has added a propane refill station and can also fill RVs as well.
Travis and his wife run Woosley’s, which is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
