Kelsey Mann Peacock is the woman behind The Essential Planner, a line of both daily and weekly planners that includes space for daily planning, healthy checks, budgeting, meal planning, grocery lists, travel planning and more.

After seeing a huge success in her first year of sales, Peacock has been working to expand her product line. She has developed an appointment-based planner aimed for professionals in the beauty industry, but Kelsey says the planner can work for just about any job that requires appointments. Also new to her Peacock Paper & Gifts brand is the academic planner, which runs from August to July and can be purchased in three different cover designs.

Since beginning her journey, Peacock now sells The Essential Planner in five retail location in five different states.

One of the most stressful decisions in making a planner is the cover design. Peacock wants the design to be both desirable and one that will appeal to a large number of people. Four covers will be released this fall, two of which will be designed by local artist Kelly McClelland, something that Peacock says she is most excited about.

From cover design to retail locations, Peacock says she has worked with a lot of local women who have helped her grow her business.

“When I originally made this planner I wanted it to just be a place that women had to go for their essential things,” Peacock said. “The fact that now I get to team up with women in this community has been a really fun thing.”

Peacock has carefully listened to customer feedback and plans to make strategic changes going forward. Some of those changes include a cover design that will appeal to men, changing the weekly budget pages to monthly and thickening the tabbed dividers. Changes to the planner and growing her support staff will lead to an increased price of her product, but Peacock says it will be small and worth the improvements she has been able to make.
