Gov. Matt Bevin made several appointments to the Kentucky Boards and Commissions today, including appointing five individuals to the Employment First Council. Those individuals were Jonathan Talmadge Curry, Roderick L. Searcy, Elizabeth R. Davisson, Carla T. Webster and Macy Knights.

Roderick L. Searcy, of Owensboro, is vice president for community living options with Wendell Foster’s Campus for Developmental Disabilities. He will represent provider agencies and serve for a term expiring June 30, 2020.

“I was pretty honored when I was asked to serve on this. Opportunities like this are what I really strive for,” Searcy said. “My role will be with people with disabilities, so I absolutely had to say yes.”

The Employment First Council works to ensure competitive and integrated employment in the community will be considered the first and primary option for persons with disabilities who want to become employed. Administered by the University of Kentucky’s Human Development Institute (HDI), the Council serves as an advisory body of state government.
