A 14,000 sq. ft. expansion is underway at Dr. Kishor Vora’s office on the corner of Breckinridge Street and Parrish Avenue. The new space will house Research Integrity, a pharmaceutical and surgical device research facility.

Dr. Kishor Vora is the medical director for Research Integrity. Timothy Hillard is of course- Director of research.

According to Hillard, the expansion will mean 12 new employees and will bring money into the community as trial patients are typically paid. But, more importantly, the addition of phase one trials will allow patients to receive experimental treatment locally.

“Currently, people travel as far as Texas for these treatments,” Hillard said. “We are giving the community the opportunity to stay at home for medications not approved yet.”

Hillard says Research Integrity conducts trials for a range of medical issues including cancer, diabetes, hypertension and postpartum depression. Since opening in 2009, Hillard estimates he has worked with 1,500 patients, but hopes that number will now grow with the new facility, slated to open in January 2019.

Editor’s Note: The original article stated that “Timothy Hillard, Director of Research for Research Integrity, says that he will partner with Vora, who has been a principal investigator in Research Integrity trials since 2009. The expansion will allow Research Integrity to expand into phase one trials, which are first-time trials for humans.” Per Dr. Vora, the article has been changed to reflect new information.
