Ross Dress for Less has been confirmed as the next store in the growing Gateway Commons. According to Owensboro Metropolitan Planning Committee (OMPC) records, the store will be just over 22,000 sq. ft. and will cost $1.6 million. OMPC drawings show the store will be adjacent to Kirkland’s.

Established in 1982, Ross Dress for Less is the nation’s largest off-price retail chain, offering department and specialty store brands at lower prices, according to its website.

One way to keep prices down, Ross said on its website, is not using window displays, mannequins, fancy fixtures or decorations, allowing the store to pass more savings on to customers.

Expected to open in 2019, the Owensboro store makes the seventh store in Kentucky. Ross currently has several locations in Louisville and stores in Hopkinsville and Elizabethtown. There is also a location in Evansville, Ind.
