At Home Self Storage has found a new home at the corner of JR Miller and 25th Street. The new indoor storage facility is in the construction phase and is currently working on a waterline.

Facility Manager, Megan Bosse, said the facility is on a bit of a delay because they “ended up acquiring another piece of property.” The property Bosse is referring to is Adam’s Motor Sales.

“That was a huge gamechanger for us; he originally wasn’t going to sell,” Bosse said. “It set us back timewise, but it gave us the corner at JR Miller and 25th.”

Bosse said having the remainder of that corner lot will be key in their success, as it will allow them to build an office on that corner, increase visibility and offer a better platform for advertising.

Bosse added that the central location, along with more modern amenities, will assist At Home in providing a better customer experience.

At Home will offer such amenities as indoor temperature control, outdoor drive-up, state-of-the-art security systems and on-site management, which Bosse said is different to the storage facilities Owensboro has been used to in the past.

According to Bosse, there are 182 temperature-controlled indoor units being built that will spread out between three different buildings, along with 289 drive-up units, for a total of 471 units.

While progress is made every day, with the hope of completion by early 2019, Bosse said there are still several things that have yet to be determined such as seasonal storage rates and the grand opening date, both of which will fall in line with the industry standard.

The other standard At Home hopes to set is that of a positive customer service experience. While Bosse said renters will be able to reserve units online, and rent month to month, they also wish to meet people face-to-face and they do ask for a copy of your current driver’s license. WIth management on-site, Bosse hopes to build relationships with those that regularly use the facility.

“We want to offer a secure, clean, well-lit and centrally-located option to the Owensboro public,” Bosse said.
