After rapid growth and the need for more space, Owensboro businesses Keller Williams Elite Realty and Storm Insurance are combining forces to build one new location on Highway 54.

The building, which is in its initial stages with Hayden Construction, will be located at the entrance of Woodland Crossing, just east of Planet Fitness on Highway 54.

“We chose the area because it’s new and up-and-coming in the community,” said Kelly Anne Harris, operating principal of Keller Williams Elite. “We got one of the last available large lots on 54. We sell real estate all around town, so it doesn’t matter where we are, but this was an attractive location, especially with all of the neighborhoods.”

Harris said the new office space will total 20,000 square feet. Keller Williams Elite and Storm Insurance will take 10,000 square feet on the first floor and the remaining 10,000 square feet will be available to lease. Harris said potential tenants can take as much space as the entire second floor or as little as 1,000 square feet.

According to Harris, both Keller Williams, located on the third floor of Old National Bank downtown, and Storm Insurance, located on Alvey Park Drive suffer from a lack of visibility, which was a major motivation for a new, prominent office location.

But Harris said Storm Insurance, owned by her stepfather Scott Stoermer, has tripled in size and needs the space. Similarly, Keller Williams Elite has doubled its volume, agents and employee count in just over two years as well as expanded the property management arm of their business.

“We needed a better site for tenants to drop off rent and sign lease agreements,” Harris said.

And with the added space, Harris hopes Keller Williams Elite will be able to surpass the 562 homes and $87 million of real estate volume sold in Owensboro last year.
