Kentuckiana Animal Clinic has two groomers that want to make pets look and feel their best. Sharity Deart and Piper Mason are reaching out to pet owners to let them know that Kentuckiana can handle all pet care needs.

“You can leave them here after an appointment and come back and get them,” Deart said. “A lot of people don’t know we groom here.”

Deart has been grooming for over 15 years. Before working at Kentuckiana, she worked at Towne Square Animal Hospital.

Some of her clients followed her to Kentuckiana, and she said this is one of the perks of her job — getting personal with her clients like she has known them for years.

“I want the pets and owners to be as happy when they leave as they are when they come in,” Deart said.

Though she said she is still learning to this day, she prides herself on grooming dogs that have not always had positive experiences with past groomings.

“She really is a dog whisperer,” Mason said, referring to one client’s pet who used to be sedated for grooming and now does not need to be.

Deart said she will also groom cats, something that many groomers do not.

Mason has been grooming for three years, although she has only been at Kentuckiana for a couple of months. In that time, she said she has been learning many things from Deart.

“I have grown up with dogs my whole life and [being a groomer] is fun and interesting,” Mason said.

She said that grooming is challenging in a good way, and it takes more patience than some would think.

“It’s not just about making dogs look cute,” Mason said. “Sometimes they have skin problems or their fur is matted and we have to get them feeling their best.”

Grooming services at Kentuckiana are available Monday through Friday from 7:30 to noon and every other Saturday. Prices are decided by the animal’s weight and all pets are required to have a current rabies vaccination.

All bath services include several other features which can be discussed when scheduling the appointment or with the groomer when dropping off pets.

Appointments can be made through the Kentuckiana app that is available in the app store, on their website or by calling 270-215-4348.

Currently, Kentuckiana is running a special for those who received puppies for Christmas. Through the end of the month, a total package is $16.50. This includes a bath, brush and blowout, teeth brushed, nails clipped and a small trim to get them used to being groomed, according to Mason.

“We treat our clients’ pets like our own pets,” Deart said.
