Owensboro business owner Tara Fitzgerald is hoping to make a difference throughout the community in 2019. After receiving her cosmetology license from Paul Mitchell, and later expanding her skills at the world-renowned Beau Institute in Mt. Laurel, N.J., Fitzgerald now owns Ms. Fitz Beauty. Located inside of Savi Chic on Triplett Street, the local salon focuses primarily on microblading and permanent makeup services.
“I started out several years ago as a bridal stylist, specializing in hair and makeup, and later became interested in permanent makeup,” Fitzgerald said.
Microblading, one of Fitzgerald’s areas of expertise, is a form of cosmetic tattooing in which fine hairs are placed in sparse areas within the brow. This unique procedure has been life-altering to some of her clientele.
“A close friend lost her eyebrows during chemotherapy recently while battling breast cancer, she actually motivated me to initiate a program quarterly to empower cancer survivors and patients,” Fitzgerald said.
“Pay with a Smile” is a passion project Fitzgerald hopes to “bless” others with during trying times.
“I want to provide a blessing to cancer patients who may have lost some of their confidence as a result of hair loss due to treatments associated with the disease, like chemo,” Fitzgerald said. “Something as simple as eyebrows can make a huge difference.”
Since launching Ms. Fitz Beauty, Fitzgerald has already served many within Daviess County and the surrounding area who have been impacted by the effects of chemotherapy.
“I wish I had a camera in my shop,” Fitzgerald said. “Their reactions are priceless. I wish I could capture it. So many happy tears!”
Ms. Fitz Beauty is looking for cancer survivors that can be “blessed” by permanent makeup services this quarter and beyond.
“God has truly shown me favor, and has given me a gift,” Fitzgerald said. “I want to bless others using my talents and encourage them along the way.”
