There’s an excitement in Kentucky each spring, and for Foster Family Racing that excitement involves a fresh track and hooves. Owners Eric and Brooklyn Foster embarked on a new journey five years ago in Utica, Ky., that has since created a legacy of its own in Daviess County.

Thoroughbred horses have ushered in a new season of success for the local couple with wins ranging from Ellis Park to Churchill Downs.

“There is such a passion that goes into everything we do,” Brooklyn said. “The entire process is such an awesome experience, from training the animals to seeing their success.”

Preparing thoroughbreds for the race track, the family-owned farm works with horses of all ages and ability levels. Both boarding and training, Foster Family Farms prides itself on providing the very best equine athletes.

“I’ve always loved horses pretty much since childhood,” Eric said. “I’ve had a bond from a very early age.”

Foster notes always having the drive to work toward something competitive and credits his background in barrel racing and extensive knowledge as assets.

“I feel like the experience I have helps ensure success for our horses, and owners,” Eric said.

Foster Family Racing currently has nine horses stabled at Keeneland, and are excited for the spring and fall meets. This will be the second year the group is set to compete and they have set their expectations high.

“The way the animals respond to my husband, and the relationship we have with owners, makes it all worthwhile,” Brooklyn said. ”The passion we have as we watch these horses rise to the occasion, it’s just great to be a part of something so special.”

With numerous wins past and present, the Fosters hope to continue investing in one of the Commonwealth’s most beloved traditions. Eric hopes to instill a love for that tradition with the next generation and is grateful for the love and support of his family.

“The environment, the atmosphere, the network of unique people, all of it come to play,” Eric said. “It’s truly a labor of love. Our whole family is involved — they are always in our corner. We truly hope to pass down this lineage to our children someday.”
