RiverPark Eyecare, an optometrist office which has been downtown since 1949, will be moving its office in order to gain more space.

“We moved into our current building in 2005, and although it has served us well, we need more space, but are landlocked in our current location,” said Dr. Rob Hamilton of RiverPark Eyecare.

The current RiverPark Eyecare office, located at 221 Allen St., is 4,500 square feet with limited parking available. The new location, to be located at 2905 New Hartford Road will be 10,000 square feet with room to build an additional 2,500-3,000 later.

“It will also have plenty of parking,” Hamilton said. “We are also looking to add one to two more doctors in the near future to add more specialized eye care services.”

The name of the office will likely remain the same, at least for now, Hamilton said.

“Not sure if we will eventually change it since that’s how everyone knows us,” he said.

Rusher Construction is in charge of the project. The company built the current optometrist building as well.

Construction will start in the next week or two, Hamilton said.

“We are still finishing up with prep work, like getting the building permit secured,” he said. “It should take nine months to build, hopefully moving next May.”
