Eleven businesses in the Wesleyan Park Plaza area are offering a unique shopping experience this weekend for customers. Owners hope their initiative, a holiday open house bingo, will bring shoppers to the heart of Owensboro.

“Holiday Open House weekend has been a long standing tradition in this area,” said Christy Chaney, owner of Studio Slant. “It’s an exciting way to kick off the holiday season and start looking for unique and local gifts.”

Participating stores are Studio Slant, Niko’s Bakery, Shoe Stop, Excursions, Lance and Company, Glass Factory, The Earle, Bella Ragazza, Pure Barre, Kidstop and Legacy Salon and Spa.

Bingo cards can be picked up at any of the participating stores. Customers can take their card to each store, where staff will initial the store’s respective square. Customers can then turn a completed card back into any of the stores.

A prize package valued at $500 will be given away.

“It’s so great to see us all pull together for an event like this,” said Natasha Stanley, owner of Bella Ragazza. “And what a prize package! I think Wesleyan Park Plaza is the happening spot for shopping and you can find just about everything in one destination.”

All cards need to be turned in by the close of business on Sunday and the drawing will take place on Monday.

Renovations to Wesleyan Park Plaza have given the dated shopping center a much-needed facelift while new businesses, like Bella Ragazza, are continuing to locate in the area.

Another one of those new businesses, Niko’s Bakery, is a part of the shopping center’s new evolution.

“We are honored to be a part of the new phase of Wesleyan Plaza,” said Niko’s Bakery Head Chef Matt Weafer. “This weekend is a great opportunity for our plaza community to come together as neighbors and for residents to check out all the new shops.”
