Owners Andrew Keller, Karissa Costello and Olivia Vancil anticipate the new storefront will only further spread the message of health and wellness established by the business nearly 39 years ago.

Having long since adopted the motto, “Your health is your wealth,” Gene’s Health Food is thankful for positive and endearing support from within the community.

“Our customers are truly family,” Costello said. “We make an effort to invest in them as much as possible, and we have them to thank for our growth and expansion.”

The new facility will offer more than 8,000 square feet, a significant increase and upgrade from the previous location. In addition to more space for the grocery area, as well as retail, the new location will provide more spacious seating options in their deli. An additional 40 seats will be available for patrons who dine in.

“We’ve nearly doubled the deli space,” Vancil said. “The new location is fully handicap accessible to accommodate our guests. We hope to create a comfortable flow within the new store for all who visit.”

Various new food items are set to join the deli menu joining existing customer favorites.

“We’ve created somewhat of a foodie experience, and we hope to further contribute to that,” Vancil said.

Since capturing a devoted customer base, Costello is confident Gene’s Health Food is only further investing in a richly “holistic” lifestyle for Owensboro and beyond.

“Everyone can be a part of a holistic experience,” Costello said. “Our store provides tools for a full life style.”

Gene’s is set to host additional festivities this month including a “Crocus Planting Party” scheduled for Nov. 17 on the front lawn. A grand opening will follow on Nov 20, with a ribbon cutting ceremony planned for 12:15 p.m with prizes.

“Owensboro is motivated,” Vancil said. “We’re grateful for such a shift. At the forefront of all of this there is a need for what we have to offer. We’re happy to provide a home-like feel for our customers and friends.”

Gene’s Health Food is open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. -5: p.m.
