Packaging Unlimited to hold drive-through job fair

More than 160 jobs are available at Owensboro’s Packaging Unlimited Distribution Center, and there will be a drive-through job fair Wednesday to start filling positions immediately.

The event will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Packaging Unlimited, located at 2588 Grimes Avenue. They are hiring for roles including selecting, packaging and shipping products to customers. 

The job fair will be put on by staffing company Hire Dynamics, which will provide an on-site manager to coordinate.

“Here at Packaging Unlimited we do a variety of things,” said Danny Clouse, production manager. “I’ve been here for two years so far. In two years this place has gone through pretty much a complete restructure and new management. We’re trying to do what we can for the people here. We’re looking forward to the job fair, hoping to see a lot of new faces.”

Karen Wilhite, regional director of Hire Dynamics, said they’ve had success with the hiring events already this summer.

“We’ve been having tremendous success, especially with what’s been going on with COVID-19 with our drive-through job fairs,” she said. “We’ll have a tent set up outside to communicate and get them going. It’s really simple, especially if they download that app prior. We can get them to work the next day.”

Job seekers can use the Hire Dynamics app Work4HD to begin their application and onboarding process. Upon completion, a staffing specialist will conduct a socially distant, in-person interview outside their car window.

“They can definitely just show up, but I would encourage them to use the Work4HD app or website,” Wilhite said. “Jobs are out there. We will have a large team here to handle the event. We keep everything related to COVID in play — that’s very important especially during this time. This is a great way to hire people beyond the virtual environment and give them an opportunity to work.”
