Earlier this month, Crazy Me Gifts and Apparel moved into their new location on E. 20th Street. While owner Donna Southard said life is crazy at the moment, she said the move has been a good change and she is grateful to the community and her customers who supported her during the pandemic.
“Who in their right mind moves during the pandemic?” Southard said. “This location space became available and it felt like was a good location so I jumped on it.”
Her former location was in Williamsburg Square, and Southard said the larger space will help offer more products for clients — and now her inventory, showroom and workspace are all under one roof.
While she has not had a grand opening yet, she plans to have a big celebration in the future to show off the new space and to thank everyone for being so supportive of her business.
“We just kind of opened our doors, and our customers are used to the craziness,” Southard said. “They have been very supportive and it’s really been great. I’m happy that we survived COVID and the pandemic and everybody has been so good to us.”
Southard said she is impressed with the community because since the pandemic began she thinks more people are trying to shop locally and support Owensboro businesses.
“We have seen so many people step up to the plate and shop local,” she said. “That’s not just a cliche. People are laying off the online shopping as much as they can and are trying to find things locally. I hope all the businesses make it. I think there is plenty for all of us to go around. I think its great people are finding out who their small businesses are and supporting them.”
As far as the future, Southard is hoping to expand her product offerings and is excited to see new and returning customers.
“Sometimes you have to put it in God’s hands and see what happens,” she said .
