Excursions owner Jaye Moseley is excited to offer her customers a new way to shop, as the countdown has begun for the launch of a store website. Moseley said she’s mulled the idea for a long time, but shopexcursions.net is finally coming to fruition on Wednesday.

“As a lot of small business owners became aware it’s not always going to be business as usual,” Moseley said. “I started trying to think of new ways to help my customers and help me, keep me in business. With the retail environment as it is  — uncertain — I thought it was past time to go ahead and start the design of the website during the shutdown.”

Moseley said it was quite the endeavor, as she had to upgrade her computer, internet and phone systems to ensure a valuable experience.

“This has been a great learning experience for me too,” she said. “I feel like I am learning so much.”

Moseley said she’ll be very hands-on with the site and try to have a good representation of what is in her store at all times.

A contemporary women’s store, Excursions offers everything from sportswear and casual attire to more formal clothing.

“Normally this time of year we would be heavily invested in dresses and more cocktail-type attire,” Moseley said. “But now with the change in everyone’s lifestyle we are doing more casual/lifestyle dressing and it’s funny, I sell more tops now. I think it could be the culture of working at home and all of our customers.”

Moseley said Excursions will be doing free shipping on any purchase over $100. Customers can also pick up purchases in store.

Excursions opened in 1983 in Towne Square Mall but moved to Wesleyan Park Plaza in 1988. Moseley took over in 1990.

“We’ve been around so long, I’m dressing the grandchildren of some of my original customers,” she said. “We’ve grown and have tried to stay the same at the same time. We are very connected to our customers and enjoy making new friends too. I am hoping we can expand our base a little bit and grow some new business with the website. My customers are the reason I am still here after all these years.”

Before the website opens, customers can submit their email and sign up for special offers for the first week of the website launch. Moseley said there would be an initial online-only 20%-off sale off everything as an incentive visit the site.
