Owensboro Peddlers Mall closed its doors Monday following updated contract negotiations with a new tenant that’s set to open up shop at the same location. T&T Vendor Malls out of Tell City, Ind., took possession of the building Tuesday with plans to open a flea market-style antique shop similar to that of Peddlers Mall.

Tim Bowles, owner of T&T Vendors Mall, said there were still a few negotiations to work out with the vendors from Peddlers Mall before announcing an opening date.

“We still need to get with vendors and get everything set up,” he said.

Peddlers Mall manager Holly Carter said her store was initially supposed to stay open until Sept. 15. An updated lease agreement between Peddlers Mall and T&T Vendors Mall revealed that Carter’s vendors would have to be out of the building, located at 601 Commerce Drive, by Aug. 31 so that T&T could start moving in.

Carter said the updated agreement came as a surprise to her and the vendors, as they had only four days to get two weeks’ worth of stuff out of the building.

Despite the stress accompanied with having to move out earlier than expected, Carter said she was grateful for the strong community support Peddlers Mall had received over the years.
