Nearly 20 local businesses have decided to get a head start on the holiday season by hosting a holiday shopping preview event Oct. 19-24.
Debi Ford, owner of Simply Chic Home Accents, is spearheading the event and said a lot of local retailers were planning on putting Christmas out a little earlier than normal due to COVID-19.
“We weren’t sure how the holiday season would be and it’s such a big season for us,” she said.
So she started calling around to other local businesses to see if they wanted to collaborate. She said normally they have a Holiday Open House the first weekend in November.
“It’s a big crowded shopping day,” Ford said. “Since we can’t have the crowds we normally would have, we wanted to give everyone the opportunity to shop early and have a little more time during the Christmas season and make them feel more comfortable.”
She said many of the stores will still be participating in the Holiday Open Houses.
Ford said all the businesses are going to have regular shopping hours, and different stores will be running different specials.
Ford is hoping to put together a contest for all the shoppers.
“It’s never too early to be jolly,” she said.
