David and Eva Atkinson, longtime owners of Andria’s Candies, are offering curbside pickup orders for the holiday season. With businesses facing a tough time due to regulations during the pandemic, the Atkinsons expressed gratitude for their loyal customers and the opportunity to spend another Christmas making and selling their homemade candy.

Though the store will continue to be closed to in-person traffic, David Atkinson said orders and inquiries about available candy supplies can be placed by calling the store at 270-684-3733. No official operating hours have been set, but Atkinson said the best time to call would be from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday.

“We’re an old-fashioned candy store and we’re doing business the old-fashioned way,” he said. “We do have a backlog of orders right now. Mainly, we are making bourbon balls because they are so big around here.”

Customers may be able to place orders for assorted chocolates as well, Atkinson said, but should call the store beforehand to ensure enough are in stock.

“We will probably make two more batches of bourbon balls. We will do customers’ assorted chocolates if we can get to it in time,” he said.

Only Atkinson and one other employee are making homemade candy from the shop at this time. After taking orders in the spring for Easter, Atkinson decided in October to open the shop back up for Christmas orders.

While Andria’s Candies serves may repeat customers, he said they are trying to take care of new customers who place orders as well.

Atkinson said he and his wife aren’t quite sure when Andria’s Candies, located at 217 Allen St., will open to in-person traffic again, saying the couple has decided to take it “from one day to the next.”

“We’re fortunate we’ve been able to get everything ready and serve our candy to our customers. We’re able to do Christmas in that respect because we’re not dependent on foot traffic,” he said. “The only thing different about this year and last year is that you can’t come inside the building.”
