Barr Bones

When Carli Barr opened Barr Bones in downtown Owensboro, she only planned on staying through the 2020 holiday season. But the turnout was so great, she decided to extend her lease.

“Come January, we started talking about keeping a brick-and-mortar,” she said. “We planned on either staying downtown or, if we found the perfect spot, then we’d consider moving. We took a look at the old Brickoven Pizza place on Frederica and fell in love. Definitely knew it needed some TLC, but had so much potential for us.”

The new store location is at 2410 Frederica Street, and Barr said she is hoping to open May 1.

Barr will have the entire building dedicated to her business. The main floor will be retail space and the top floor will be e-commerce and office space.

For now, her physical store is closed while she makes the transition from her downtown location.

“The two-floor building was super attractive to us because it gives us room to grow into it as well,” Barr said. “We’ll have ample amounts of parking as well, which excites us for our customers.”

The mobile boutique will also be housed at the new store location.

Barr said customers can expect a cool, funky atmosphere decked out in black, pink and white decor.

“(The building) was once a home, so it definitely has character and is super unique,” she said. “We’ll have all the same products, with some added bonuses of carrying some local vendors’ products as well. I definitely want to make this new location more of a safe place if you will. A place to feel comfortable to just come and hang out with us. Have some coffee, sip some wine, stay awhile.”

Barr said she wants her customers to want to come to shop but also feel at home while they’re doing it.

During the downtime, Barr said she will still be taking online orders. The mobile boutique will also be around town at several pop-up shops.
