Gimme A $5 —  a bargain store offering a “treasure hunt” shopping experience — will open Saturday in Owensboro. The store will open at 8 a.m. and is located at 3026 KY 144 behind Dairy Queen.

The store restocks their inventory every Saturday and Sunday, and everything starts out at $5 those two days. Items are discounted to $4 on Monday, $3 on Tuesday, $1 on Wednesday/Thursday, and $0.25 on Friday. The process starts over each Saturday.

The store was supposed to open in June 2020, but was delayed to due to construction according to the company’s Facebook page.

Shoppers can find a wide range of items — electronics like drones, headphones and tablets; household items like coffee makers and slow cookers; patio decorations; toys; and countless other products.

According to the store website, “When we launched our first store in 2012, we had a vision for a new kind of shopping experience. Our goal was to create a store where shoppers could find amazing deals on products that they really wanted. We wanted to make shopping like a treasure hunt. At any moment, shoppers could come across big-ticket products and they’d never pay more than $5 per item. We wanted to make shopping fun and exciting again.”
