Matt Valego moved to Owensboro with his wife Michelle 12 years ago. At that same time, he went to work for Infintech, a payment solutions company that has experienced exponential growth in recent years.
In those 12 years, technology has invoked many changes, allowing the entire payment process to take on many forms. Infintech’s cutting-edge technology makes them the ideal payment processor to facilitate any business’ transactions.
“Payment solutions can look a lot of different ways — my goal is to consult with businesses to offer improvements and determine how we can improve these systems,” Valego said. “It used to be walking into an establishment and seeing they had a machine and a receipt printer. Now we’re using mobile apps to complete transactions.”
As the industry migrates toward software such as apps and online payments, they continue to boast a knowledgeable workforce. Though much of the work is done remotely, they pride themselves on offering a personalized experience.
“As long as people are able to speak to an expert in the industry, they’re pleased,” Valego said. “That’s what they want and that’s what we’re able to provide. That’s much better than relying on a ‘1-800’ number.”
While Valego operates out of the Corporate Centre on the corner of 4th and Frederica steets, Infintech’s headquarters are located in Blue Ash, Ohio. Just last year they partnered with i3 Verticals out of Nashville, allowing them to become a publicly traded company.
The company’s loyal merchant base extends to all 50 states and Canada with merchants ranging from restaurants to retail. Valego and Infintech presently serve as the chamber’s endorsed credit card processor and have hopes of extending their already-strong local footprint.
“There are probably several local businesses that work with someone outside of the area. I would love to offer them something locally,” he said.
Valego spent his childhood in Massachusetts and his college years in Georgia before making the move to Owensboro. Despite knowing few people and very little about the area, he’s pushed forward with no reservations.
“It’s been a great experience overall to move here from out of town,” he said. “When I started here, I only knew my in-laws and a couple of other people. It’s a very receptive area to run a business.”
