There’s a new spot for local businesses without a brick-and-mortar location to set up weekend “pop-up” shops downtown, and a handful — such as Bonnie Rae Boutique and Molly’s Mixins — have already signed up to participate.

The space is called “The Sliver” and is located at 105 W. 2nd St. next to Mellow Mushroom.

“We’re a local business who tries to support other local businesses,” said Robert Williams, co-owner of The Sliver. “With it being downtown and lots of traffic, it’s a great spot. And with Friday After 5 coming back this year, we think it’s a perfect fit for local vendors.”

The space can be divided into four spaces, plus host a fifth business on the sidewalk outside if the weather is nice. The building includes changing rooms and bathrooms.

Williams said he and his partners wanted to create an affordable place for local businesses without a storefront to set up shop on a Friday or Saturday night.

“We reached out to some places that are online only. They all jumped on board and said it was a great plan and wanted to be a part of it,” Williams said. “We may have different businesses in there every weekend. You can just pop in and see one or two or three. It just gives them a place to showcase their products.”

Williams said the plan is to allow vendors to set up around 4 p.m. on Fridays, and stay as long as through Saturday night. They also plan to make the space available for private events through the week.

The owners plan to post on The Sliver’s Facebook Page weekly to let customers know which vendors will be set up. Vendors interested in reserving a space can reach out through the Facebook Page, or contact Williams at 270-313-2855.
