The Tailored Teachers

Two local teachers took their love for embroidered clothing and turned it into a business. Co-owners Lauren Cates and Anne-Courtney Feenick are two local math teachers who have created The Tailored Teachers, a custom embroidery boutique.

The duo met teaching at Burns Middle School. During their lunch breaks they talked about how they loved embroidered clothing, but felt like there weren’t any affordable options.

“We talked about how we both have always wanted to start a business, but didn’t have the equipment,” Cates said.

Cates said the next thing she knew Feenick called her saying she was picking up their first machine the next day.

The pair agrees their number one priority is offering customers affordable, elegant, custom embroidery and sublimation.

“We are currently working towards a mobile boutique so that we can appear at more pop-ups, markets and neighborhoods,” she said. “There are so many fun and exciting secrets we will be working on this summer.”

The easiest way to order is from their website, and people can browse some of their current designs.

Feenick said they provide a variety of price points — you can choose the design on a basic brand shirt, Comfort Colors, or Chicka-d ribbed sweatshirts.

The two women said their biggest focus, though, is customized embroidery and sublimation.

“So many of our designs and projects are dreams that the customer has brought to us,” Feenick said. “So, if you already own products and would like them embroidered or there is a  design you have dreamed of, you can message us on Facebook, Instagram or our website for a quote.”

The Tailored Teachers will be at Friday After 5 on July 2 and July 16. They are also looking into popping up at some local businesses and markets.
