Three years after launching Mad Aesthetics, esthetician Madlyn Murphy has outgrown her current spa studio loft at Head Over Heels Salon on E. 18th Street.

Murphy said Head Over Heels, owned by her sister Katelyn Hawkinson, was the ideal place to launch her business at only 19 years old. In the those three years, Murphy’s clientele has expanded to nearly 800 people.

“Having had the opportunity to build my business from the ground up with the support of my sister and the HOH team is something I will always be grateful for” Murphy said.

Now 22, Murphy is excited to announce 624 Emory Drive, formerly home to Studio Slant, as the new location for her growing business. In addition to the location change, Murphy says she will be rebranding her business — changing its name from Mad Aesthetics to The Skin Therapist.

Murphy says one thing that sets her and her team apart is their commitment to educating their clients on the latest skin care developments.

In addition to creating custom regimens for clients looking to make a long-term investment in their skin care, The Skin Therapist will also cater to each client’s budget — helping them to choose which individual products will yield the best results for their budget.

“At The Skin Therapist our main goal is to ensure that everyone who walks through our doors receives more than just a treatment but a working knowledge on how they can best care for their skin at home,” Murphy said. “We carry some of the best products on the market but they won’t do you any good if you don’t know how to use them properly.”

Murphy credits the support of her clients as the driving force behind her success.

“I started this business because I have a passion for skin care but it has been my clients who have given me the confidence to expand my business so that I may better serve the residents of our community,” she said. “My clients are truly the backbone of The Skin Therapist.”
