Par 3 Indoor Golf

Owensboro will soon have an indoor golfing opportunity. Par 3 Indoor Golf — which was described as similar to Top Golf but on a smaller scale — is opening this fall.

The golf simulator facility will be located on Emory Drive in the former Escape Today space.

Five friends went in on the business together and are all co-owners — Adam Blake, Aaron Coomes, Troy Dant, Brandon Hawkins and Brian Swihart.

“The basic idea is that you play using a real ball and real clubs and you hit into a projector screen displaying the driving range/course,” Blake said.

There is a tracking system that captures data on swing, ball trajectory, speed and other factors.

“This determines where your next shot will be on the course,” Blake said. “Typically you can play 18 holes in an hour once you get used to the system.”

At first, they plan to serve beer and snacks but hope to add more food options in the future.

Blake said anyone of any age or skill level can play, but it will be geared more toward adults.

“We are also looking into a multi-sport option that may be a better fit for younger kids,” he said. “Golf simulators can be taken as seriously, or not, as you wish. A lot of trainers utilize these machines for lessons, so they are great practice, especially in inclement weather.”

Blake said prices and hours have not been finalized but they will be posting updates on their Facebook page.
