A multi-million dollar remodel has begun at the Target store in Owensboro, with the focus being on enhancing the customer experience. The remodel is expected to take until October, but the store will maintain normal operating hours throughout the process.

According to a building permit issued July 1, the remodel cost is just more than $2.2 million.

Last month, Target issued a release saying they were “ramping up our investment in the easy, inspiring Target shopping experience our guests expect,” and Owensboro is one of 150 locations receiving a “major glow-up,”

Stuart Anderson, Target store director in Owensboro, said upgrades will be made throughout the store.

“A lot of the things, the modern conveniences that guests want from a Target store are what we’re going to be looking to provide,” he said. “So for example, our digital services order pickup services, drive up services are a really big deal for Target. “We’re going to see everything changing from the service desk. And then we’re going to be modernizing our style, our beauty in some of our personal care areas to better match the modern experience that guests look for now.”

Anderson added, “Our focus every single day is to make sure the guests experience is number one no matter what area of the store that we’re touching.”
