Plant Peak Traveling Plant Bar is one of the newest mobile stores in Owensboro.

Steven Fain, owner QnH Tropicals LLC, said they make organic houseplant products for a larger company called Noot Bio Organic, but they also sell rare houseplants to locals in and around Owensboro.

“Our products include Rescue Mix, Husky Mix, and Noot Mix which sell all across the United States, Canada, and United Kingdom,” he said. “We continually test our products and in some instances to test the validity, we use them on plants that aren’t doing well or have been poorly taken care of.”

In addition to selling the products, they also sell house plants, succulents, air plants, and hard-to-find plants at pop-ups in Owensboro and Evansville. All these plants have been recovered using the products they make.

Fain said he got started in 2016 with plants and house plant products as a hobby around the house.

“I started with learning more about rare houseplants and then started selling them,” he said. “In doing this I was always looking for plant food and products to help revive some of my plants that would arrive in poor condition.”

This led to him experimenting with products to make the mixtures just how he wanted them, which then led him to creating, utilizing and ultimately now selling his products. Fain said all his products are organic, pet safe and kid safe.

In addition to Fain, Darius Hogg is also working at Plant Peak. Hogg took an interest in the plants and is now running the pop-up events.

“We’ve been working together for about a year and his love for plants has grown as mine did,” Fain said. “He feels a connection of hope with plants and how by simply providing the right nutrients and proper growing mixture a plant will thrive.”

Fain said their main focus is on education and spreading the joy of plants.

“Everyone wants to see a plant thrive and grow no matter who you are,” he said. “After 2020 we all need some joy in our lives, and this is how we can help spread it.”
