Talea Gaw now owns a blue Victorian house on Frederica Street. For the last 2.5 years she has worked as a photographer on the first floor of the building running her business, Reflections By Talea — now she has plans for the entire space.

Gaw had actually looked at buying the building back in February of 2017, but at that time she wasn’t ready for having tenants. Still, she knew the space was exactly what she was looking for.

Before moving her studio from downtown to 1524 Frederica St., the home was renovated completely inside and out, and she was able to snag the entire first floor to rent for her studio. When the lease renewal came up, she just asked if they would be open to selling as she was interested in buying.

“From there, it was the smoothest process, which I just kept seeing as blessings since there were absolutely no bumps,” she said. “We closed within about 2.5 weeks and now I have my forever studio, and space remaining, to rent out to other small businesses.”

Gaw said the space is perfect because there is a full kitchen in the common area, with a coffee bar for all tenants, and a private parking lot in the back.

“I photograph a lot of newborns so having private parking has been amazing,” she said. “The remaining space available would be amazing for a massage therapist, esthetician, someone needing quiet office space or meeting space — the possibilities are endless and it’s a beautiful place with so much character.”
