Libertalia Coffee is taking their premium coffee to the road with stops in neighborhoods across town with their new mobile coffee truck they call the Scout Ship. Since moving to Owensboro 5 years ago from the east coast, Libertalia officials have wanted to share their passion for specialty coffee with the city.

Now, Chris and Stella Hamilton can set up shop in different locations throughout the week to give customers a taste of their coffee.

The grand opening of the Scout Ship was earlier was Oct. 10, when it was parked at the Daviess County Public Library — and Chris said it was a great start for the truck.

“We had a lot of people come out, a lot of friends that we’ve met over the course of the 5 years we’ve lived here, and the number of people that have just remembered us from last summer so it was really excellent,” Hamilton said.

During the pandemic working from home became a new normal for many people, and Hamilton is excited to be able to bring the coffee to the community when people aren’t always able to make it out to cafes and coffee shops in town.

“For these people, we give them the opportunity to enjoy the cafe right in their neighborhood, and with our half-gallon latte options they can extend that experience through the whole week,” Chris said.

Currently, Libertalia sets up on Mondays at Deer Valley, Tuesdays at DCPL, Wednesdays at Market 03, and Thursdays at Brookfield. Saturdays are their wildcard days.

Saturdays are dedicated to events in town but if nothing is booked, they’ll post on Facebook where the decide to set up in the community.

Hamilton opens the door for customers each morning from 7-11 a.m. — and at 6:30 a.m. on Mondays for the early morning kick. As they’ve gotten settled, he plans to start offering breakfast snacks in tandem with the drinks.
