Samantha’s Closet — a plus-size boutique that features sizes 14-24 — opens Saturday in Owensboro. The store is the brainchild of Samantha Raley, who wants to help other women feel “amazing in their own skin.”

With a price point “between Target and Torrid,” Raley is ecstatic to offer the community a substantial selection of casual and formal wear. The store will also feature her very own custom-made resin art and jewelry.

“I wanted a place that people could not only come to try on clothes, but clothes that are affordable,” Raley said. “I genuinely believe that having the right outfit for your body can give you a level of confidence you’ve never had before.”

Raley said she is presently searching for larger sizes and hopes to fulfill a need for more plus-size options in the community.

“Our area is severely lacking in options for plus-sized people to shop, and I wanted to fix that problem,” she said. “I have always loved helping my friends shop, seeing their faces when they try on that one outfit they trusted me to find. It lights them up, and that lights me up.”

Raley is an Ohio County native and moved to Owensboro last year with her wife Erin and son Theo.

Located at 1728 Sweeney St., the store will open at 10 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. For more information, search Samantha’s Closet on Facebook and Instagram, or visit samanthaclosetky.com.

“This is a safe, judgment-free zone,” Raley said. “When you come to the store, you will always feel welcome, and I hope you feel safe enough to try new things. I won’t just sell you clothes; I will actively help style you if that’s something you like. I am body-positivity kind of girl, and I want to spread that message far and wide.”
