Mike Chaney is now bringing the same level of enthusiasm that graces his radio show to the coffee industry. The longtime radio hosts didn’t venture too far from his roots, naming his new business Mike Chaney’s Punk Rock Roasters.

The Owensboro native is no longer “on the air,” but hosts live punk rock shows on Friday and Saturday evenings online. He decided to pair his punk rock attitude with his passion for coffee to deliver an online store that features a plethora of roasts, machines, and cup ware.

“I’ve been in radio for a long time and had some good recognition with a show that I do,” Chaney said. “I love coffee; I researched it and landed roasters from all over the United States, with beans coming from all over the world.”

Chaney presently conducts all sales online but has aspirations to open a brick-and-mortar in the future. The website has been operational for a couple of weeks, and already positive reviews are coming in.

Derrick Hancock said, “Mike Chaney’s Punk Rock Roasters Breakfast Blend has a friendly, balanced, and flavorful taste. This coffee gives me a ‘coffee shop’ in my own kitchen — highly recommend.”

With free shipping, consumers can choose from a wide array of whole-bean, standard grind, and single-serve coffees. The store also boasts restaurant-quality coffee and espresso machines, as well as cups and flasks.

“Shipping is free, and it’s fast, and there are promo codes for discounts,” Chaney said. “It’s not like going to the grocery store and getting generic coffee; this is excellent coffee.”

Chaney had his eyes opened to good coffee when he visited Portland, Oregon, in 1989. Since then, he’s dedicated much of his time “off the air” to find, brew, and sample the best coffee the world has to offer.

“It was the first time I ever had really good coffee,” he said. “Since then, I’ve had to have the very best beans and water; I’m even particular about the temperature. It all became a science. I didn’t know what good coffee was. Once I had it, it changed everything.”

Mike Chaney’s Punk Rock Roasters’ coffee and more are available here. More information on the business can be found by searching Mike Chaney’s Punk Rock Roasters on Facebook and other forms of social media.
