Self-care is arguably more important than ever after the last couple of years produced copious amounts of stress, difficulty and other life-altering effects. Evolving Well Holistic Healing, soon to be located at 3115 Commonwealth Court Suite B6, plans to provide a holistic experience to users unpacking their traumas and help heal their bodies.

Chaney Mayer, BSN, RN, and Jan Alvey, MSOTR/L; Yoga RYT, plan to offer different services including color therapy, aromatherapy, occupational therapy, energy bioenergetics, a specialized sensory immersion center called SōlGood, and more.

SōlGood is an immersive experience that Mayer crafted herself to provide the client a chance to heal while having all five senses — sight, sound, scent, taste and touch — impacted.

The plan is currently is to accommodate two people at a time per SōlGood session.

“SōlGood was designed out of the pandemic in efforts to help people out of intense anxiety — your fight or flight state — and to ground you in the present moment,” Mayer said.

Mayer and Alvey said the holistic approach to healing is better than focusing on one area of the healing process such as physical or mental recovery. The core of the business comes with the idea the body can heal itself and how people can work with their bodies to resolve disease and pain.

Alvey said there were years at a time where she felt she wasn’t finding relief and was just functioning her best way possible. When she took the chance to work on herself internally, she started to see a difference.

“It can be cultural trauma, it can be personal, but it really stays in your body and that’s when I realized the correlation in my own body and then experienced some healing with these modalities,” Alvey said.

As they gain more clients, they plan to evolve their practices and services.

Mayer said the community showing support already has been great, but she hopes they also see the importance of self-care to fully heal from pain.

“If you don’t self-care and nourish and heal your soul, the potential for your condition doesn’t go away. It just stays within you,” Mayer said. “You experience multiple exacerbations of issues that you think you’ve healed throughout the way. … It’s really important to treat all those concurrently to heal a person of any type of disease or dysfunction.”

Evolving Well hopes to open within the next month. More information can be found on their Facebook Page.
