The former Kmart building in Wesleyan Park Plaza has been sold and will be undergoing a major renovation over the next year. Advanced Center for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine purchased the building and plans to relocate there in 2023 after a total renovation to the facade and interior.

The local orthopedic institution was established in 1962 and has expanded and evolved over the last 60-plus years, and it’s now an eight-doctor practice.

Advanced — formerly Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Owensboro (OSMO) — is currently located at 2831 New Hartford Road. Their new address will be 2772 Frederica Street.

According to a release from the company, Advanced “will finalize their move to their new, updated facility next year to provide advanced services and amenities to their patients throughout the region. Through their new home, they will continue to provide residents of Owensboro and the surrounding areas with expert nonsurgical and surgical treatments for  injuries or conditions of the ankle, elbow, foot, hand, hip, knee, shoulder and wrist.

According to the release, the  new campus will offer:

  • Convenient centralized location.
  • Ample and easy parking.
  • New state-of-the-art MRI and X-ray.
  • Expanded therapy space.
  • Expanded clinic space.
  • Same best-in-class patient care.

Before the transition is complete, patients in need of specialized orthopedic care can still call the practice at 270-926-4100 to schedule an appointment at their current location.

“Having served the region for the past 60 years, we are thrilled to relocate to continue  offering our patients state-of-the-art care,” said Dr. Keith Moore, board-certified  orthopedic surgeon at Advanced Center for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. “We are  proud to be part of this community and honored to be able to better serve the growing  orthopedic needs of our friends and neighbors through our new facility.”
