Love Yourself Boutique started out as a Facebook group of customers, and now the owner is excited to provide the community with a brick-and-mortar location.

Owner Tammy Martin said that she originally started the boutique just for fun. She would purchase the jewelry and then hop on Facebook Live at home and promote all of her new pieces.

Eventually, she built up enough of a following that she started a Facebook group and maintained momentum until the point when the upstairs area of her home just wasn’t enough room.

“In January of this year, I told my husband I’ll give myself one year and I’ll be in a brick-and-mortar. By March he said, go get to the store, the whole upstairs is full,” Martin said.

She said the name Love Yourself Boutique came from her wanting to spread positivity and also encouraging people to do just that — love themselves. The Facebook Lives provided a chance for her to interact with her customers and sell jewelry in a non-invasive way.

The love each customer developed ended up forming a large community that was willing to support not only Martin but other people within the group.

Martin said there were people who would message her thanking her for the chance they received to meet people in the community even if it was over the phone.

Martin said when the announcement came earlier this year that she would open a storefront, all the people who had been with her since the beginning rallied behind her, ready to make the move.

With her new location at 201 West 4th Street, Martin has also expanded beyond just carrying jewelry.

For the summer, she has jewelry including necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and more. Throughout the store are also are purses, drink tumblers, tops, and bottoms. When the temperature drops she plans to start carrying sweaters and cardigans. Martin also carries some beauty products like hydrating masks and more. There are also some men’s accessories.

“You’ve got to pamper yourself. I mean, we’re Love Yourself Boutique and you’ve got to love yourself, so might as well pamper yourself too,” Martin said.

Martin had an a ribbon cutting on June 10 to unveil the location to the community, and then had a soft opening for her VIPs in the Facebook group. It was the first time that the tight-knit community gathered outside of their Facebook Live interactions.

“I have a lot of viewers that don’t get out of the house right now unless they have to … so to be able to watch and replay the lives and just interact with the other ladies, they get the chance to make friends,” Martin said.

While she now has a storefront, Martin she still plans to hold on to her beginnings by hosting live streams.

Love Yourself Boutique is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and is closed Sunday and Monday.
