The owners of Shammy’s Auto Wash are adding a location on the west side of Owensboro. The new touchless car wash will be constructed at the corner of West Parrish Avenue and Carter Road, formerly home to Thai Food Owensboro and Metro PCS.

Sean Byrne, one of the owners, said construction is expected to start within the next week depending on the weather. Byrne said if everything comes together, the new location could be operating by the end of the year.

The owners also operate a Shammy’s at 2524 Frederica Street and the Sparkle Brite on Emory Drive (both in the Wesleyan Park Plaza area). Byrne said there will be a fourth car wash added to the portfolio at a later date.

Byrne said once the new car wash is operating, they will work to add an unlimited package that will be eligible for use across all their car wash locations.

The new Shammy’s will be set up similar to the current one, which features two touch-free automatic LaserWash wash bays along with vacuums, carpet shampoo, spot remover, fragrance machines and car care products.

To help with traffic flow, the only entrance for the new Shammy’s will be located on Old Henderson Road rather than Carter or Parrish.

The former Metro PCS and Thai Food buildings have already been torn down. Both businesses both relocated just down the road in a strip center.
