The Thatch Shopping Center is hosting an event later this month to highlight how every business in the building is female-owned. In addition to sales and prizes offered by the businesses in the center, there will also be arts and crafts vendors on site.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on October 22.

The participating shops are Samantha’s Closet, Moonbow Apothecary & Emporium, Dabney’s at the Shop, Frozen Lounge, Art Lab Owensboro, Pixel Palace Selfie Museum, Nine Circles Tattoos and Piercing, and Dorothy’s Accounting. There will be ten other vendors in attenedance.

“Every business in the complex is having their own fun event and special that day,” said Samantha Raley, owner of Samantha’s Closet. “There will be sales, raffles, giveaways, and more.”

Raley, whose business will be celebrating its one-year anniversary at the event, said the other owners in the shopping center have been there for her since day one, and they all go above and beyond to support each other.

“We are definitely a strong community here in the Thatch, like a family,” she said. “We’re constantly brainstorming and working together to see how we can help each other grow.”

Raley said she’s grateful for the continued support of the entire community.

“The community has been amazing and has really shown up for the other girls and me here in the center,” she said. “The biggest push is word of mouth. We have someone new in here almost every day.”

A masquerade ball at the Frozen Lounge, a bar specializing in frozen drinks, will follow the event.
