With 33 years of experience in the industry, Scott O’Bryan opened Affordable Health Care Insurance in 2006. O’Bryan initially focused on his services to senior citizens but has expanded and evolved over the years to offer many insurance options.

O’Bryan began his career with Prudential and Andy Anderson Insurance before joining forces with his sister Alice Crabtree to form Affordable Care. Crabtree elected to retire during the pandemic and sold her portion of the company to her grandson Cody Stone.

Stone graduated from high school in 2013 and began working with the agency in 2014. With almost a decade of experience under his belt, he said he couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

“We take the time to compare plans and determine the best options for each person,” Stone said. “We can navigate through individual policies, assist people with KYNECT, and guide individuals approaching retirement age. We just want to help people down the right road.”

One of the agency’s specialties is selling Medicare products, and because they’re an independent agency, they have the luxury of quoting plans through several providers.

O’Bryan said the group stays blessed with referrals thanks to a supportive local community.

“Several people in the community will refer to us – that’s the way we work,” he said. “I’m constantly ‘talking Owensboro up.’ It’s a wonderful place to raise a family and run a business.”

O’Bryan, who served multiple terms on the board at the then-Elizabeth Mundy Community Center, also finds joy in only living three minutes from his office. He said representatives will often visit for work from Indiana, Ohio, and elsewhere and always rave about how much they love Owensboro.

Additional services at Affordable Care include life, dental, vision, travel, and long-term care insurance, annuities, and Medicare. To learn more or for a free rate quote, visit affordablecareinsuranceky.com.

Stone’s mother, Terri, and O’Bryan’s daughter, Taylor Bailey, also work for the agency, making it the ultimate family business, and that’s precisely how they like it.

“This is a family business in every sense of the word,” Stone said. “We treat our clients like family and always do what’s right on their behalf.”

Chamber of Commerce. Founded in 1913, the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce has worked to provide valuable benefits and services to member businesses and individuals for over a century.
