Libertalia Coffee Company is starting 2023 in a completely new way, with a permanent coffee bar that can be found inside Wheatgrass Juice Bar’s location in Wesleyan Park Plaza. Their new location will officially open Tuesday morning.
Libertalia co-owner Chris Hamilton said that it’s taken a year to get to this position.
“We felt like we’ve been consistently poking and prodding at doors to see if there’s an option that makes sense for us as a small business that doesn’t take on massive risk on ourselves, but also allows us to scale our company in a way that’s feasible,” Hamilton said.
Through a mutual interest to provide a unique experience with their products, the partnership with Wheatgrass Juice Bar lead to the in-house coffee bar.
The bar will still have the traditional menu Libertalia has served, and they are also adding an “order ahead” option with their app.
“We have thought about launching an app for a long, long time, but it just didn’t make any sense with our inconsistent locations of where we were, so we’d have to change the app details regularly,” Hamilton said.
Now, customers in a rush can order ahead using the app or website.
Hamilton is excited for what is to come, and said the businesses surrounding them have been supportive thus far.
“We’ve got a really great cult following now, and the people who love us and love our brand have become dear friends to us, and we’re really thankful for them,” Hamilton said. “We’ve just been really thrilled with the reception we’ve got in Owensboro not just for our product, but also our values.”
Libertalia plans to be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday for now, but as they learn more they expand those hours.
