The newest Donatos Pizza location is expected to open this summer on New Hartford Road. Construction is moving along quickly for the small shopping strip, which will also house a new office for KORT Physical Therapy.
The shopping strip is located just off the bypass next to Extra Space Storage. Co-owner Sean Byrne expects KORT to open in mid-July, while Donatos will likely open in August.
The new Donatos is an expansion store for Byrne and his partners at 4 Cats, who also own locations at 2601 West Parrish Avenue and in Evansville.
“Things have been going great for us at Donatos,” Byrne said. “We’ve really been getting the brand out there over the last 6 years. We’ve been supporting local youth sports teams, and they’ve been giving back to us too. It’s been steady and gradual growth.”
The new KORT will replace the clinic’s location at 3515 Frederica Street; the other office at the entrance of Wesleyan Park Plaza on Frederica Street will remain open. The new KORT location will boast more state-of-the-art equipment, including an aquasizer underwater treadmill.
Byrne and his wife Jennifer, a doctor in Physical Therapy, are partners with Liane and Mark Riney and Angie and Jason Curry for several endeavors. In addition to owning the three Donatos, they also own several Tropical Smoothies and Shammy’s Auto Washes across western and central Kentucky and southern Indiana.
The new shopping center mimics the aesthetics of the shopping strip on Frederica that houses Tropical Smoothie and KORT, with nearly twice the square footage. One end cap remains available in the new strip, though Byrne said many quality brands and companies have already shown interest.
“KY 231 is loaded with potential,” he said. “I constantly have people asking me when we’re going to open something like Donatos on the east side of town, and now, we’re doing it.”
