Last year, Balance 54 owner Kimberly Montgomery had the idea to create a “block party” for the businesses located in Avenue 54. That idea became Small Business Sip and Shop, turning the stylish shopping center into a destination to kick off the weekend.
Beginning at 5 p.m. Friday afternoon, shoppers can visit participants including Sip Wine Room, Balance 54 and C Leigh C Salon in Avenue 54. And as part of the expanded event, Bushay’s Mens Boutique, Peacocks and Pearls and Legends Sports Bar & Grill in Lake Forest Town Center will also participate.
Patrons can expect special deals, happy hour options and prizes. The businesses have participated in a door prize “swap,” so each time a customer makes a purchase, they’re eligible to win a door prize from another participating business.
Legends will be offering two happy hours from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. until close and live music with Clint Campbell starting at 7:30 p.m.
“The end of the summer, as far as retail goes, is a great time to purge summer merchandise and prepare for fall,” Montgomery said.
While Montgomery acknowledges that people may not initially associate a fitness studio with an enjoyable evening out, she plans to offer ping pong and corn hole so that visitors can come out and enjoy a Friday afternoon together while supporting local small businesses.
