Structure fire overnight, Whitey’s Motel

At 10:12 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, the Airport Sorgho, Stanley and East and West Daviess County Fire Departments were dispatched to a structure fire at the old Whitey’s Motel in the 6300 block of US Hwy 60 W.

According to the ASFD Facebook page, Stanley 453 arrived on scene to find half of the hotel well involved. ASFD responded with 4 apparatus & 13 firefighters. There were no injuries.

As of 7:30 a.m. this morning, ASFD, Stanley and DCFD West were still on scene putting out hot spots.

Lead investigator and assistant DCFD fire chief, Eric Coleman, said the structure burned with significant damage and the cause is undetermined at this time.
