Owensboro residents may notice a new city bus driving around town, but only the outside is actually new.

Owensboro Transit System (OTS) rewrapped the bus previously dedicated to the Kentucky Mavericks basketball team, which left Owensboro in 2017. The bus remained Mavericks-themed until last month, when OTS released a new City of Owensboro bus wrap.

We decided to update the wrap to something more current,” said Pamela Canary, Transit Manager. “It is a great way to connect the City and residents.”

Canary says that the decision was made to do a partial wrap instead of rewrapping the entire bus.

“A partial wrap is most economical when the wrap is still in good shape but information is outdated,” Canary said.

The cost of a new wrap is $6,500, with a partial wrap coming in at about half that cost.

DMC Graphics designed the new CIty of Owensboro wrap, with the input of the City.

“We wanted a ‘City’ themed modified bus wrap,” Carany said. “DMC’s graphic designer Jessica Stone is very good at what she does. She is able to take the information and ideas and put it all together in a very creative way.”

OTS currently has 8 wrapped busses with another new design to be released within the next 30 days.
