OPD identifies pedestrian who died from E. Byers Ave. accident

UPDATE: The pedestrian who died as a result of being struck by a vehicle last night at East Byers Avenue and Friendship Drive has been identified as 72-year-old Mary Greenwell of Friendship Avenue.


UPDATE: According to OPD, the pedestrian who was injured in this collision has died. The name is being withheld at this time pending notification to family.


UPDATE: The area is now open for traffic.


According to Andy Boggess, Public Information Officer for Owensboro Police Department, on Friday, Nov. 16 at approximately 2:10 p.m., the OPD was dispatched to an accident with injuries at East Byers Avenue and Friendship Drive where a vehicle struck an adult person.

Due to potentially life-threatening injuries, accident reconstructionists were called to the scene. East Byers Avenue between Highway 54 and East 26th Street will be closed for an undetermined amount of time due to reconstruction.
